This website is to introduce to you the paintings of Toni Petersen and Norman Petersen.  We will be displaying a small sample of the work we do; work which is very different from one another.  Toni is a watercolorist; Norman paints non-representational acrylics.  Though we both trained at Pratt Institute in New York in the 50s, Toni in the Art Education Department and Norman in the Graphic Arts and Illustration Department, we changed course after graduation and left our art training behind, although it always remained part of the way we viewed life.

In 1997 we took early retirement and moved to Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island, near some of our family.  It was a great move.  For one thing, it revived our art activities.  In 2001, a few years after the move, Toni came upon a portfolio in the garage which contained her submission of work to get into Pratt, along with a stack of Norm’s Pratt drawings and paintings on paper.  You could say a bolt of lightning struck and with some trepidation, we both decided to see if we still had any art ability.  You will see the result of the last few years of work on the following pages.
